I was obsessed with achieving. My self-value was measured by things happening outside of me. Chasing achievements became more and more exhausting as personal satisfaction diminished. It was time to make a change. My husband’s career was thriving and my daughter was establishing herself as a physical therapist.

I am the only living sibling of a small family and part of the baby boomer generation. During this time, my parents were aging and appeared to be doing so with grace. While I noticed some questionable behaviors, nothing seemed over the top. From my vantage point, I could plan on a predictable career change. But to my surprise, life was preparing me for something different. I would later learn it was the boomerang. 

In 2019, a virus called COVID-19 ignited a pandemic that shut down the world. The pandemic uncovered what purpose-filled chaos could produce in me. A boomerang had been soaring over my head that would touch down and require me to activate every lesson I knew in leadership, resilience, faith, and, yes, even my belief in miracles. They were all necessary to care for my aging parents. It would stretch me beyond every limit I could imagine, but I did not break. Instead, I expanded. I write this book to support you in navigating your own boomerang.
